Shop and Enroll in Plans on the Website (Non-Medicare)

Shopping and enrolling in a plan on the website saves time, and it's more convenient. You can shop and enroll in plans any time during Open Enrollment or when you have a Special Enrollment Period. There's no need to schedule an appointment with a licensed benefit* advisor. If you'd like to shop for plans on the website and then speak with a benefit advisor to enroll, that's okay, too. Select Speak to an Expert from the Menu to Reserve a Time to Call a benefit advisor.

You can stop during this enrollment process if you need. When you come back, you have the option to continue the application (as long as your enrollment deadline hasn't passed).

1. Sign into Via Benefits, and select Shop for plans.
2. Select Shop under Individual and Family Coverage to shop for a medical plan.

You can only shop for one insurance plan at a time. To shop for an additional plan, such as dental or vision, return to this step and select another plan type.

Note: The tiles may be arranged differently on your Shop for Insurance Plans page. (The plans offered are customized for your employer.)

3. Review the high-level overview of bundling supplemental health insurance with your medical plan. You can also download a PDF.
4. Scroll down to the Learn More About Supplemental Insurance section to learn more or enroll in supplemental insurance.
5. Select Shop to continue your health care enrollment.

Learn More About Supplemental Insurance

To learn more or to enroll in supplemental health insurance, follow these steps:

1. Review the Supplemental Benefit Types (accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity) and determine the policies that might be right for you.

Premium costs, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, and other health care costs have increased over the last several years and are expected to continue to rise. Additional benefits plans reduce rising cost exposure and unforeseen out-of-pocket expenses.

2. In the Explore and Enroll section, read the pamphlets (PDFs) provided by SureBridge Insurance and The IHC Group to learn more about your options.

3. Select the desired insurance carrier's website (SureBridge Insurance or The IHC Group) to enroll.

4. Select Open New Tab to go to the supplemental insurance carrier's website.

Important note: You need to return to marketplace.viabenefits.com to complete your health care enrollment.

6. The Your Funding Decision page displays if your employer or benefits provider is offering you funding.

Note: You can only accept your reimbursement arrangement (if offered by your employer) or use the Premium Tax Credit, not both. Please call us if you need help determining if you qualify for the Premium Tax Credit.

  • Select Make Decision if you'd like to make your funding decision. For assistance, scroll down to the Make Your Funding Decision section.

Note: Once you've made your funding decision, this page no longer appears here. However, Your Funding Decision remains on your Home page until your decision period ends.

  • Select Prepare to Shop if you'd like to shop without making your funding decision.

Make Your Funding Decision

7. Select when you need coverage, and select Continue.

Note: If you previously started an application, you can continue that application or start a new application.
