Death Notification Assistance (Medicare)

We understand the death of your spouse, family member, or friend is a hard thing to manage, and it may be difficult to know what steps to take. To help, we've detailed below who you need to call in the coming days.

  • Contact your local Social Security office or call 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778). Notifying Social Security is required to discontinue or adjust the deceased's benefits accordingly.

  • Call us at 1-866-322-2824 so we can:

    • Update our records.

    • Determine if the former employer requires any additional action. It's common for employers to request a formal notification through the company's benefits center.

    • Help you contact the necessary insurance carriers to end coverage.

    • Let you know if you're currently authorized to speak on behalf of the person you're calling about as executor of estate. If you're not, our representative lets you know how to provide us with the necessary documents.

Note: To discuss anything related to benefits, you must be an authorized representative.
